Some love stories start with a glass of wine. Opeccellente’s started with the wrong flight.

When Wim — a slightly scatterbrained engineer — wanted to impress his new girlfriend, Thérèse, he spontaneously booked a romantic getaway to Tuscany. Or so he thought. Because once at the airport and in the plane,  it turned out their flight wasn’t headed to Florence at all… but to Bari.

​

What followed was an unexpected road trip through Puglia in a rental car — on their way to a hotel in Tuscany, but passing through something far more beautiful: a region that took their breath away. So much beauty. So much simplicity.
Eventually, they married in Monopoli, and a few years later, they unpacked their bags for good in the south of Italy.

 

Today, they run Opeccellente Mare & Terra with warmth and heart: a charming B&B and holiday home where sea and land meet. A place where hospitality feels effortless. And where guests arrive… and often don’t want to leave.
